Migdalia Galarza
Migdalia Galarza Otero was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She is a self-taught artist working in acrylic, pencil, pen, and ink. It is the pen and ink and patterns she creates that distinguish her detailed and meticulous style.
Migdalia often uses Puerto Rican motifs for her subject especially the rock art of the ancient Taíno culture that inhabited the island before the Spanish. Her passion is to understand the connection between ancient cultures through studying the lines of the art they left behind, her goal is to educate through art.
Migdalia lives with her son Pedro in the near north side of Chicago where she works full-time as a public school teacher.
