Benjamin Mercado
Benjamin Mercado was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico. For the last 45 years he has lived in the Chicagoland area. His passion for the arts goes back to childhood. Fascinated by the Art Museum at an early age, Ben had a passion for all genres. He holds an appreciation for all that man has created.
It has been within the last 10 years that Ben has become more focused on his passion. His art is predominantly abstract pen and pencil. Ben sees it as a study of shades and geometrical combinations.
Most of Ben’s drawings are expressions of exploring new angles and shapes that compliment or crash incorporating detail seldom seen in other art works.
Some of Ben’s work can be seen at Café Colao, 2638 W. Division and Nellie’s, 2458 W. Division, as well as online at puertoricanpower.net/art/benjamin_mercado.
