Carmen Vega
Community Relations Director at NBCU Local Chicago
Carmen Vega is a driven community Relations Director for NBCU Local Chicago who was born and raised in Chicago.
She is an Emmy award recipient with an extensive background in grass-roots events, multicultural marketing, and community outreach. She’s very performance driven and skilled in creating marketing plans that lead to successful station promotions and image campaigns. For many years Carmen has worked successfully within teams and multi-task projects under strict deadlines.
Carmen started her journey at NBC 5 in the Broadcast Operations Department scheduling engineers that traveled to different markets to cover sports. She then moved into the promotions department where she used to schedule Promos and PSAs on the daily log. Soon after became a promo producer and then was promoted to Manager for the Creative Services Department at NBC 5.
When Telemundo was purchased by NBC, she was promoted to Director of the Creative Services/Marketing Department for Telemundo Chicago for the next 13 years.
On her spare time, she has been on the Board for Chicago Midwest Emmy Awards, Leukemia Lymphoma of Illinois, and is active on NBC Universal Local Collaboration Team, Unidos, and Women’s Network.
