Somos Uno Programming

The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Program, Somos Uno, provides high-quality, hands-on academic and personal enrichment through Reading/ELA, Science, Technology, Engineering, Music, Art, Dance, Mathematics (STEAM), character education, health & nutrition, and physical activity. Engaging in cultural, creative, and recreational enrichment activities promotes each student's academic development. These programs are taught by Illinois-certified teachers and community partner organizations with a focus on hands-on projects that have real-world applications. These activities reinforce and compliment the students’ regular school-day achievements. Parent workshops are also offered and include; improvement opportunities, career readiness, Social Emotional Learning(SEL), English as a Second Language(ESL) and tools to create a supportive learning environment at home.

This program is FREE OF COST to all participants! Eligible participants include students at Somos Uno’s four Chicago Public Schools partnering sites. All participating students must comply with the program's mandatory attendance requirements.

The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance / Somos Uno Project are pleased to announce that we have been awarded funding from the Illinois State Board of Education to create 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) at our Mary Lyon Elementary, Mozart Elementary, Ogden International High School, and Stowe Elementary campuses for over 500 3rd-12th grade students.
