Diana Maldonado, Board Secretary

Diana Maldonado is currently the Vice President of News for Noticiero Telemundo at WSNS TV – Telemundo Chicago, responsible for the overall content and management of all locally produced newscasts. She also oversees the Emmy Award winning local community affairs show, Enfoque Chicago. (2010 to Present).
With over 20 years of experience in the Broadcast News industry, Diana is a multiple News Emmy Award-winning producer. She has also led her team at Noticiero Telemundo Chicago to win the Peter Lisagor Award 2012 for General Excellence in a Newscast (Non-English). And led her news team to claim the #1 spot in Spanish news in Chicago at 10pm during the May Sweeps 2015. This is a first in the history of Telemundo in the Chicago market.
She also manages Telemundo Chicago Investiga as well as Telemundo Chicago Responde, a consumer unit that has recovered over $650,000 on behalf of viewers. Both units have won News Emmy Awards.
A graduate of Northeastern Illinois University with a B.A. in Communications, Diana, got her start in broadcasting with WGBO TV – Univision Chicago where she became a News Producer after performing a series of roles for the Spanish-Language station. (1996 to 2000)
Diana’s experience includes an 8-year run at Telemundo Network with base in Florida. During her tenure with the national newscast, Noticiero Telemundo, she was Executive Producer for various news programs, breaking news, olympic coverage (Athens 2004), presidential elections (2004, 2008), terrorist attacks of 9-11 and the war in Iraq, among others. (2000 to 2008).
Diana has a strong passion to serve the Spanish-speaking audience in the Chicagoland area. She has been able to raise the standards of the local news which serves this large audience.
Born and raised in Chicago of Puerto Rican parents, Diana is fluent in English and Spanish. She is engaged in the Hispanic community and has served others through various projects in underprivileged areas. Diana is a former board member of Girls in the Game, a non-profit organization that teaches young girls leadership skills, discipline and self-esteem through sports.
In her free time, Diana enjoys planning events and serving at her church, cooking and traveling.
